Testosterone is the principle male hormone primarily responsible for sexual development and characteristics. A drop in the sensitivity to, or the production of, this hormone has far reaching implications. It affects mainly brain, metabolic, cardiovascular, hormonal and sexual functioning.
Low levels of testosterone present with symptoms such as mood swings, irritability, poor concentration, and changes in sleep patterns. There is an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, weight gain and increased cholesterol. One of the most common symptoms is decreased libido and sexual performance.
